How can building regional capacity for continuous improvement improve academic outcomes for marginalized and low-income students?

Students deserve access to meaningful and impactful educational experience, and teachers deserve support that can help them create classroom environments where all students can thrive. Across the Puget Sound region of Washington, education organizations are committed to supporting and serving students and families furthest from educational justice. The Puget Sound Continuous Improvement Summit Series (PSCISS) was designed to build a shared understanding of continuous improvement (CI) and build capacity among 27 regional education organizations and leaders. Shift provided deeper coaching support to three organizations who were designing and running local improvement networks of schools in the Puget Sound region.

our approach

Shift designed the PSCISS to create an opportunity for Puget Sound based organizations to build CI capacity, and begin to apply CI in service of creating equitable outcomes for students furthest from justice.

Shift created opportunities for participating organizations to learn about continuous improvement, begin to apply the improvement methods and principles to address their unique goals and strategies and imagine what a shared, regional improvement strategy might entail. The PSCISS created enduring improvement resources for the community, as well as opportunities for regional organizations to teach and learn from one another.
